1In the third month, on the same day of the month that the Israelites had left the land of Egypt, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai. 2After they had set out from Rephidim, they entered the Wilderness of Sinai, and Israel camped there in front of the mountain.
“The word conventionally translated ‘wilderness’ is not a sandy desert, but grazing country, not settled by man.” (Cole)
3Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, “This is what you are to tell the house of Jacob and explain to the sons of Israel:
“If the traditional site of Mount Sinai looks like anything, it looks like a huge pulpit - a sudden, steep outcropping of mountain out in the wilderness. Here, God preached one of the most dramatic sermons ever heard.” (Guzik)
4‘You have seen for yourselves what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.
Deuteronomy 32:11 As an eagle stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, He spread His wings to catch them; He carried them on His pinions.
This world is full of God’s beauty, you just have to open your eyes and recognize He created it. I lived in a high desert for thirty years and some people would comment... How can you live here, it’s so dry and....
But when the rains came, certain smells came forth and everything bloomed displaying the Lords beauty.
Guzik’s quote of the huge pulpit really impressed me, think about ALL the sermons you have heard, now imagine the Lord giving one from that “steep outcropping of mountain out in the wilderness”!
We will be surprised when we meet the Lord and find out how many times He carried us on “eagle wings”!
Rest in His wings and ask Him to carry you through your day!
Blessings, David
