Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men, because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Yesterday I started a long dreaded project, removing the vinyl siding on the gable ends of the house to repair the foam sheeting and to install house wrap. When the house was built, foam insulation was installed on the outside so someone decided not to wrap it. If you know anything about vinyl siding, bugs and moisture get behind it and the wrap keeps it from penetrating the walls. Mice also chew on the foam trying to get inside. I found someone had drilled a 1-1/4” hole through the foam and wood into the upstairs floor and didn’t plug it.
Whoever installed the foam and siding didn’t do it to the best of their ability, they didn’t “work at it with your(their) whole being, for the Lord and not for men”.
When I was in my late teens, I had a smart man give me some wise advice that always stuck with me, he said.... David whatever you do for a living, do it with your hands and do it to the best of your ability and when times get rough you will never be without work.
He was right, things may have slowed down, money may have got tight, but I was always able to provide.
God gave us the Bible and it’s full of wise advice!
If you’re working today, “work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men”.
Why? Because, “It is the Lord Christ you are serving”!
Blessings, David
