Deuteronomy 19:15-21 Liar

15A lone witness is not sufficient to establish any wrongdoing or sin against a man, regardless of what offense he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.b

16If a false witness testifies against someone, accusing him of a crime, 17both parties to the dispute must stand in the presence of the LORD, before the priests and judges who are in office at that time. 18The judges shall investigate thoroughly, and if the witness is proven to be a liar who has falsely accused his brother, 19you must do to him as he intended to do to his brother. So you must purge the evil from among you.c 20Then the rest of the people will hear and be afraid, and they will never again do anything so evil among you. 21You must show no pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth,d hand for hand, and foot for foot.

The other day I watched a video of a lady testifying at the January 6th Insurrection hearing stating she heard from someone that heard from someone about an assault. It wasn’t convincing and my first thought was, she is lying ðŸ¤¥.

According to this scripture, she didn’t qualify as a witness and she should be purged and sentenced because of falsely accusing someone of assault.

We no longer have the rule of law when they lawmakers are above the law.

Please pray for a revival because the Lord is the only One that can save us.

Deuteronomy 19:14 Boundry Marker

 14You must not move your neighbor’s boundary marker, which was set up by your ancestors to mark the inheritance you shall receive in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.

Years ago our family owned some property in a wilderness area. Upon visiting I noticed someone cut a new line through the property at an angle without permission. After inquiries were made we found out the state surveyed it and moved the back boundary markers north. By doing so they didn’t foresee it also moved the front line across the lake to the opposite shoreline. ðŸ¤£

Ever have someone move your boundary marker?

Deuteronomy 19:10-13 Refuge in Jesus!

 10Thus innocent blood will not be shed in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed.

11If, however, a man hates his neighbor and lies in wait, attacks him and kills him, and then flees to one of these cities, 12the elders of his city must send for him, bring him back, and hand him over to the avenger of blood to die. 13You must show him no pity. You are to purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, that it may go well with you.

“We can easily imagine that those truly guilty of murder would, at some time or another, seek protection in the city of refuge. So, whenever a manslayer came to seek protection at a city of refuge, the elders of the city were to judge his case and determine if he was truly worthy of protection.” (Guzik)

“The cities of refuge as a picture of Jesus.”

“Both Jesus and the cities of refuge provide protection only within their boundaries; to go outside meant death (Numbers 35:26-28).”

“A crucial distinction: The cities of refuge only helped the innocent; the guilty can come to Jesus and find refuge!” (Guzik)

Hebrews 6:18: That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.

Lay hold of the hope and refuge in Jesus!

Deuteronomy 19:8-9 Three More Cities!

 8And if the LORD your God enlarges your territory, as He swore to your fathers, and gives you all the land He promised them, 9and if you carefully keep all these commandments I am giving you today, loving the LORD your God and walking in His ways at all times, then you are to add three more cities to these three.

As their territory expanded there needed to be three more cities of refuge added evenly dispersed or the avenger of blood would over take the manslayer.

Joshua 20:7-8 tells of the actual refuge cities chosen;

Joshua 20: 7So they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.

8And beyond the Jordan, east of Jericho, they designated Bezer on the wilderness plateau from the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan from the tribe of Manasseh.

Accidents happen and unfortunately innocent people die because of them. The Levites would hear the case and investigate the death and make a determination of innocence or guilt.

Deuteronomy 19:6-7 Cities of Refuge

 6Otherwise, the avenger of blood might pursue the manslayer in a rage, overtake him if the distance is great, and strike him dead though he did not deserve to die, since he did not intend any harm. 7This is why I am commanding you to set apart for yourselves three cities.

“The avenger of blood was an appointed member of the family (the goel), designated to protect the honor and lives of the family. His interest would not be in gathering evidence, but in avenging the honor of the family - so, in the case of an accidental killing, the manslayer would need protection from the avenger of blood.” (Guzik)

“Therefore, such a man could flee to a city of refuge - an appointed Levitical city, where he could stay, safe from the avenger of blood, until the issue was settled, and he could leave the city of refuge safely.” (Guzik)

Why were the city’s of refuge even needed? Because the Lord knows the heart ❤️ of man and what he’s capable of.

Have you ever hated anyone? If yes, then Jesus said you’ve murdered them in your heart!

Deuteronomy 19:4-5 ABBA Knows Best

 4Now this is the situation regarding the manslayer who flees to one of these cities to save his life, having killed his neighbor accidentally, without intending to harm him: 5If he goes into the forest with his neighbor to cut timber and swings his axe to chop down a tree, but the blade flies off the handle and strikes and kills his neighbor, he may flee to one of these cities to save his life.

Genesis 9: 6Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man his blood will be shed; for in His own image God has made mankind.

The Lord’s instructions and laws were given to keep law and order. But why don’t we have them today? Because man thought he could do better than God.

Look around you, look at the crime and murder rates. Have we done better?

Abba knows best!

Deuteronomy 19:1-3 Refuge

 1When the LORD your God has cut off the nations whose land He is giving you, and when you have driven them out and settled in their cities and houses, 2then you are to set apart for yourselves three cities within the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess. 3You are to build roads for yourselvesa and divide into three regions the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that any manslayer can flee to these cities.

“There are two other important passages dealing with the cities of refuge: Numbers 35:9-28 and Joshua 20:7-8; a full understanding of the purpose and practice of the cities of refuge must be based on all of these passages.”

“Moses had already established Bezer, Ramoth, and Golan as the cities of refuge on the east side of the Jordan River (Deuteronomy 4:41-43); this command is to establish three more cities of refuge on the west side of the Jordan.” (Guzik)

“The Jews inform us that the roads to the cities of refuge were made very broad, thirty-two cubits; and even, so that there should be no impediments in the way; and were constantly kept in good repair.” (Clarke)

Psalm 62: 7  On God rests my salvation and my glory;

my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

8  Trust in him at all times, O people;

pour out your heart before him;

God is a refuge for us. Selah

Is Jesus your refuge?

Feeling unloved and not wanted? Jesus is waiting for you to open the door ðŸšª and let Him in.
