Numbers 26:57-62 Your Portion, Your Inheritance

 The Levites Numbered

57Now these were the Levites numbered by their clans:

The Gershonite clan from Gershon,

the Kohathite clan from Kohath,

and the Merarite clan from Merari.

58These were the families of the Levites:

The Libnite clan,

the Hebronite clan,

the Mahlite clan,

the Mushite clan,

and the Korahite clan.

Now Kohath was the father of Amram, 59and Amram’s wife was named Jochebed. She was also a daughter of Levi, born to Levi in Egypt. To Amram she bore Aaron, Moses, and their sister Miriam. 60Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar were born to Aaron, 61but Nadab and Abihu died when they offered unauthorizedj fire before the LORD.

62The registration of the Levites totaled 23,000, every male a month old or more; they were not numbered among the other Israelites, because no inheritance was given to them among the Israelites.

“The Levites were not numbered in either the first or second census, because the men of their tribe were not to go to war.” (Guzik)

The Levites inheritance was greater than land because it was in the Lord.

Numbers 18: 20Then the LORD said to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any portion among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the Israelites.

Is your portion, your inheritance in Jesus Christ?

Just For You. Romans Road To Salvation

It’s all about love. A love so strong, so enduring, so eternal. A pure, true love. A love of sacrifice, sacrifice to the death.

God loves you so much, right now, right where you are, that even if you were the only person to ever accept His Son, Christ would still have died the horrific death He did. Just for you.

Romans Road To Salvation

Romans 3:23  “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

Psalm 14:3 They have all turned aside, They have together become                           corrupt; There isnone who does good, No, not one.

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the                   truth is not in us.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death;”

Proverbs11:19 Genuine righteousness leads to life, but the pursuit of evil brings death.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Isaiah 53: 5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. 6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all.

Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus says the Lord God:

“Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation,

A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;

Whoever believes will not act hastily.

Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Isaiah 27:5 Or let him take hold of My strength That he may make peace with Me; And he shall make peace with Me.”

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Numbers 26:52-56 Seven Years Subduing and Seven Years Dividing

52Then the LORD said to Moses, 53“The land is to be divided among the tribes as an inheritance, according to the number of names. 54Increase the inheritance for a large tribe and decrease it for a small one; each tribe is to receive its inheritance according to the number of those registered.

55Indeed, the land must be divided by lot; they shall receive their inheritance according to the names of the tribes of their fathers. 56Each inheritance is to be divided by lot among the larger and smaller tribes.”

“Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance,.... That were numbered, and to none else:

according to the number of their names; and for this end was the number of them now taken, that the land might be equally divided among them; women and minors, or such as were under twenty years of age, had no share in it; and even only those who were at that age at this time; so Jarchi says, it was not divided to any that were less than twenty years of age, even though they came to be full twenty before the division of the land; for they were seven years subduing it, and seven years dividing it, yet none took any part of it but these 601,730: nay, he says, if a man had six children they took but their father's part only.” (Gills Exposition)

Did you get that, seven years subduing and seven years dividing?

Have you ever studied the fate of a man that won the lottery? If given a large sum, an inheritance, he spends it quickly and becomes poor again.

The same fate would have happened to the Israelites if the Lord gave them the land without seven years subduing and seven years dividing.

Numbers 26:51 Abiding With Him

51These men of Israel numbered 601,730 in all.

“In the first census, Israel counted 603,550 men ready for war; 38 years later, they count 601,730 men - a loss of 1,820 men (.3%).” (Guzik)

“The stagnation of population is reflective of Israel’s spiritual state during these 38 years - we should have expected them to grow, as is normal in the course of generations. Instead, they simply stayed where they were. The 38 years in the wilderness were years of no growth, no advance - just going in circles until the generation of unbelief had died and a generation of faith had arisen, a generation bold enough to take the Promised Land.” (Guzik)

Abiding With Him

“Of these twelve tribes of Israel, five suffered loss, and seven gained men. Half of the tribes had gains or losses 15% or less; but Simeon lost 63% of their population, and Manasseh gained 64%. God was blessing or cursing particular tribes, no doubt related to their abiding with Him.” (Guzik)

Are you abiding with Him?

Numbers 26:48-50 The Tribe of Naphtali

 The Tribe of Naphtali

48These were the descendants of Naphtali by their clans:

The Jahzeelite clan from Jahzeel,

the Gunite clan from Guni,

49the Jezerite clan from Jezer,

and the Shillemite clan from Shillem.

50These were the clans of Naphtali, and their registration numbered 45,400.

“Naphtali was Jacob’s sixth-born son and the second of two sons by Rachel’s maidservant, Bilhah. Naphtali’s older brother was Dan.”

“Naphtali’s descendants came to be known as the tribe of Naphtali, one of the twelve tribes of Israel. The first census in the wilderness credited 53,400 adult, battle-ready males to the tribe of Naphtali (Numbers 1:42–43). A later census taken near the end of the wilderness wanderings counted 45,400 men of Naphtali who were capable of battle (Numbers 26:48).”

This was a loss of 8,000 (15%).

Numbers 26:44-47 Legacy, The Tribe of Asher

 The Tribe of Asher

44These were the clans descended from the sons of Asher:

The Imnite clan, named after their ancestor Imnah.

The Ishvite clan, named after their ancestor Ishvi.

The Beriite clan, named after their ancestor Beriah.

45These were the subclans descended from the Beriites:

The Heberites, named after their ancestor Heber.

The Malkielites, named after their ancestor Malkiel.

46Asher also had a daughter named Serah.

47These were the clans of Asher. Their registered troops numbered 53,400.

Legacy, The Tribe of Asher

“In the first census, the tribe of Asher counted 41,500 men ready for war; 38 years later, they counted 53,400 men. This was a gain of 11,900 (29%).” (Guzik)

Notice this verse, “Asher also had a daughter named Serah.”

Women weren’t counted in the census and mere mention of her must have significance, even though the Bible doesn’t state why, there is much rabbinical folklore about her.

Genesis 46:17 The children of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and their sister Serah. The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.

The Lord honored Serah’s legacy by mentioning her her in the Bible.

What kind of legacy will we have?

Numbers 26:42-43 The Tribe of Dan

 The Tribe of Dan

42These were the clans descended from the sons of Dan:

The Shuhamite clan, named after their ancestor Shuham.

43These were the Shuhamite clans of Dan. Their registered troops numbered 64,400.

“In the first census, the tribe of Dan counted 62,700 men ready for war; 38 years later, they counted 64,400. This was a gain of 1,700 men (3%).” (Guzik)

Some versions use the term threescore.

What does threescore mean? Being three times twenty; sixty.
