25Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to Me along with anything leavened, and do not let any of the sacrifice from the Passover Feast remain until morning.
26Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God.
You must not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.”
27The LORD also said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”
Leaven (yeast) is often a picture of sin in the Bible, therefore leavened bread is not allowed.
The Lord is supposed to be first and foremost with us, therefore firstfruits are His!
“You must not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk”. This command was so the Israelites wouldn’t imitate a cruel pagan fertility ritual.
“Write down these words”... If Moses hadn’t written them down, would we be reading them today?
“I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”
If you have accepted Jesus and the cross the covenant is yours also!
Do you believe He made a covenant with you?
Paul says in Romans 4: 16Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may rest on grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. 17As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the presence of God, in whom he believed, the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being what does not yet exist.
Blessings, David
