19And the Angel of God, who had gone before the camp of Israel, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from before them and stood behind them, 20so that it came between the camps of Egypt and Israel. The cloud was there in the darkness, but it lit up the night. So all night long neither camp went near the other.
“Thus the double nature of the glory of God in salvation and judgment, which later appears so frequently in Scripture, could not have been more graphically depicted.” (Kaiser)
An Angel with a mission!
Pillar of cloud, was darkness to the Egyptians and light to the Israelites!
Salvation has the same affect on us, we see His light but the unsaved see nothing but darkness.
I contend this is a result of the heart condition, unbelief-hardened hearts equals darkness and belief-a heart for the Lord equals light.
Is your heart dark or light?
Ephesians 4:18 They are darkened in their understanding and alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts.
Blessings, David
