1Then Jacob called for his sons and said, “Gather around so that I can tell you what will happen to you in the days to come:
2Come together and listen, O sons of Jacob;
listen to your father Israel.
This is the Jewish tradition of the blessing of the children.
This will be the first declared prophecy by man in the Bible.
Notice he refers to himself as Jacob the man who fathered his children but he also refers to himself as Israel who who will give the prophecy concerning the twelve tribes and how the strengths, weaknesses and sin of each individual son affects the future of each tribe.
What is interesting to me is the individuals strengths AND weaknesses are bred into successive generations.

“The effects of sin are naturally passed down from one generation to the next.”
Numbers 14:18 (ESV)
18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’
But we have a loving God!
What can break this generational curse?
True repentance in Jesus Christ!
Read this again and let it sink in, “abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression,”
Are you living with a generational curse? If so you can break it with Jesus Christ!
Blessings, David
