16When Joseph saw Benjamin with his brothers, he said to the steward of his house, “Take these men to my house. Slaughter an animal and prepare it, for they shall dine with me at noon.” 17The man did as Joseph had commanded and took the brothers to Joseph’s house.
18But the men were frightened that they had been taken to Joseph’s house. “We have been brought here because of the money that was returned in our bags the first time,” they said. “They intend to overpower us and take us as slaves, along with our donkeys.”
Fear can be crippling, it’s an emotion that comes to us naturally and it’s hard to overcome. But when we put our trust in the Lord, our Father watches over us and the emotion of fear dwindles within us.
A perfect example of this is a person on their deathbed.
A person without Jesus is fearful because they don’t know what awaits them when they die.
But a person that has accepted Jesus as their savior isn’t fearful because they know they are going home, to their Fathers house, a place that Jesus prepared for them.
John 14:2 In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
Joseph’s brothers are frightened and nowhere in this scripture do we read they were men of God. But on the other hand, Joseph had the Spirit of God in Him.
Life is hard and everyone has trials and tribulations.
Are you like Joseph or his fearful brothers?
If today finds you on your deathbed, will you be fearful or will you look forward to going home?
Blessings, David
