The War in Heaven
7Then a war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8But the dragon was not strong enough, and no longer was any place found in heaven for him and his angels. 9And the great dragon was hurled down—the ancient serpent called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
10And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying:
“Now have come the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of His Christ.
For the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down,
he who accuses them day and night before our God.
11They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
and they did not love their lives
so as to shy away from death.
12Therefore rejoice, O heavens,
and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea;
with great fury the devil has come down to you,
knowing he has only a short time.”
“Michael is not to be identified with Christ, any more than any other of the great angels in this Book. Such identification here would confuse hopelessly the actors in this heavenly scene.” (Alford)
Daniel 12:1 (NKJV)
12 “At that time Michael shall stand up,
The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people;
And there shall be a time of trouble,
Such as never was since there was a nation,
Even to that time.
And at that time your people shall be delivered,
Halfway through the tribulation period Satan tries to interfere with Gods plan for the end times. A dramatic scene breaks out between good angels and bad angels. Satan and the bad angels are shut out of heaven and hurled to earth!
But notice Michael’s action in Daniel. “At that time Michael shall stand up,”. Reminds me of when I was a young boy at school a bully came up behind me and ripped off a loop on the back of my new shirt. My older brother intervened and grabbed the back of his shirt and ripped it off his back, enough!
Michael has been waiting for this moment, God finally gives him the nod of approval!
“The Bible describes four different falls of Satan. Revelation 12:9 describes the second of these four falls.” (Guzik)
· From glorified to profane (Ezekiel 28:14-16)
· From having access to heaven (Job 1:12, 1 Kings 22:21, Zechariah 3:1) to restriction to the earth (Revelation 12)
· From the earth to bondage in the bottomless pit for 1,000 years (Revelation 20)
· From the pit to the lake of fire (Revelation 20) (Guzik)
“But woe to the earth and the sea;
with great fury the devil has come down to you,
knowing he has only a short time.”
“If anything can make a man holy it is a firm faith in the atoning sacrifice. When a man knows that Jesus died for him, he feels that he is not his own, but bought with a price, and therefore he must live unto him that died for him and rose again.” (Spurgeon)
Are you living unto Him?
Blessings, David
